susan's letter - part 2

**Spoilers for The Last Battle, the last Narnia book**
"Lily? I thought I just needed someone to talk to since..well, I'm sure you've heard." I said on the phone.

"Well, Susan dear, I'm sorry, but I'm going to a party and I don't have time to talk right now." Lily replied quickly. "Oh my, I have to go. Goodbye!" and then she hung up.

I bit my lip as I set down the phone. "Fair weather friends." I mumbled to myself sadly.

Now I was hollow inside. I didn't have any tears left, and there was just an empty space where my family had been. "Why didn't you spend more time with them?" I thought to myself.

I had been giving myself rebukes all day.

Suddenly there was a knock. I hurried to the front entrance and opened the door. There stood a man. He bowed to me. "Qu- Miss Susan." he said, stuttering. He seemed a bit nervous.

"What is it?" I asked.

"From Peter, Lucy and Edmund." the man told me, holding out a letter. I looked at him curiously as I took it.

"Thank you." I said, and closed the door.

susan's letter - part 1

**Spoilers about The Last Battle, the last Narnia book**

My hands shaking, I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself. "Thank you." I whispered to the man standing on my doorstep. He bowed and then left. I shut the door behind me and closed my eyes.

"This can't happen." I thought. "They can't be gone."

But they were.

Tears streaming down my face, I ran up the flight of stairs and into my bedroom. It had been my and Lucy's room. But it wasn't anymore. I looked across it at Lucy's bed, neatly made by my mother.

My mother...she was gone too.

So were Peter and Edmund. And my father.

They had died in a train wreck, my siblings - off to do something related to Narnia. If that hadn't happened...they would still be here.

"STUPID NARNIA!" I screamed. "It's just a childish game and my family lost their lives over it!"

"Or is it?" a voice echoed at the back of my mind.

"Oh, stop it." I said aloud to myself. "It is. Just a game. It's just a game!"

The Dress Game

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't been posting or even been online! I was on vacation and I went quite unexpectedly, but I'm back now. :)

My last game was such a hit that I decided to do another one. This one is called The Dress Game, and it's very simple. I'll show a picture of a dress from a movie or TV show and you have to guess:

Who wore it?
What movie/show is it from?

Each correct answer is worth 10 points, and there is a possible 200 points to be earned.

Remember, don't be worried if your comment doesn't show up right away on this post. I won't be publishing the comments until after I reveal the answers next week.

To keep things fair, please do not search up what any of the outfits are from or ask anyone if they know who is wearing them.

Have fun!

Fantasy Literature Camp Assignment 1

Hey everybody! I'm doing Fantasy Literature Camp and I'm going to write a story, using this picture as a prompt. I thought this was sort of a Rapunzel with a twist. xP Here we go!

My eyes widened in mingled fear and excitement as I fingered the single flower I held in my fingers. "He's coming." I thought, my heart racing.

"Lilianna!" I heard a voice call my name. I scrambled over the windowsill and, grasping it, looked down, then gulped - it was him.

Black cloak, sword at his side, black hair, black eyes.

I walked backwards to get as far as I could from him as he made a tremendous leap and landed without error inside. His eyes, glittering, made a quick survey of the room, and then he took a deep breath grinned at me.

"So, this is where you live now, eh?"

I laughed nervously. "Yes. Fancy, isn't it?"

He unsheathed his sword and twirled it around skillfully. I covered my face with my hands, but parted my fingers to see where he was going with this.

"So. Are you ready? Where is your 'mother'?"

"That's why I didn't want you to -" I was cut off my my mother coming in from the next room. She looked at him in shock.

"What are you doing here?" she asked in an angry tone. I glanced from mother to boy in surprise. "You know him?" I asked.

"I wish I never had." My mother mumbled angrily. "And I will defend this girl in any way I can from you."

Seems like the boy is the bad guy, right? Wrong.

The thing is, he's my brother.

recently - #1

I decided to give "Recently" a big makeover. Here we go.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I'm on page two and I can already tell I'm going to have a hard time understanding it. Good thing I have a dictionary! :D

Mah beautiful, feelsy, cheesy, funny Star Trek fanfiction. Book two.
Olivia is Kirk's daughter and I think Kirk kind of regrets adopting her, looking at all the trouble she gets into. Like returning to that mirror universe with the bearded Spock and the security officer Sulu. Or beaming down to a planet without permission. Or getting kidnapped by a Klingon.
All while being so awesomely fearless and sassy.

Listening To
This Is Not A Test, tobyMac's new album! My favorite songs are This Is Not A Test and Beyond Me.

When Calls the Heart. Just learned there is a whole fandom for it - Hearties. ANOTHER very little-known fandom?! Hallmark...what did you get me into?

Other Stuff
I am terrified of worms...ahhhh! xD We were fishing today and the bait swung near me, and I screamed SO. LOUDLY, it was embarrassing.
I am on 4th grade level math. And I have to do eight pages a day to try to catch up. It's also embarrassing.
I love play the piano. I'm on the G major position right now and I've got some super fun songs to learn! :D
I love Brooklyn and Bailey, I've watched literally all of their videos. ;P

Well, that's it. Thanks for reading!

the bookshelf tag

Hey everyone!

Blessing Counter tagged by for The Bookshelf Tag! Thanks so much, Blessing Counter! :)

Describe your bookshelf (or wherever it is you keep your books - it doesn't actually have to be a shelf!) and where you got it from:
This was my first bookshelf and my go-to-book-keeper when I buy some new books. :) I also have two more shelves - one downstairs in the homeschool area where most of my BJU Press books and books for school are kept, and another one on the other side of my bedroom where most of my mystery books are.
Do you have a special or different way of organizing your books?

Classics and a few other series go on the first (top) shelf, series/books that I read when I was little but kind of grew out of go on the second shelf, Little House and AG books go on the third shelf, and most of my boxed sets and activity books go on the fourth (bottom) shelf.

What's the thickest (most amount of pages) book on your shelf?
Probably either Little Women or Heidi.
What's the thinnest (least amount of pages) book on your shelf?
Most of my American Girl Short Stories books are the same length - short! I can read one in less then ten minutes.
Is there a book you received as a birthday gift?

Most of my Boxcar Children books are birthday gifts (except the ones I got at thrift stores.)
What's the smallest (height and width wise) book on your shelf?

The American Girl Short Stories books again, they are tiny!

What's the biggest (height and width wise) book on your shelf?
The American Girls Party Book.
Is there a book from a friend on your shelf?
My cousin gave me this one a long time ago.
 Most expensive book?

Most of them either costed the same amount or were really good deals at a thrift store. ;)

The last book you read on your shelf?
Forest of Secrets. Well actually, it would be Rising Storm, but it's not on my shelf right now, haha. ;)
Of all the books on your shelf, which was the first you read?
A Pony for Keeps. I LOVED the Pony Pals series when I was younger.
Do you have more than one copy of a book?

I have three copies of Little House on the Prairie, one is a normal hardcover edition, one is a 75th Anniversary colored collectors' edition, and one is a colored paperback collectors' edition.

Do you have the complete series of any book series?
Yep! The whole Circle C Adventures series.
What's the newest edition to your shelf?

On the Victory Trail. I actually got this book for around a dollar at Walmart.
What book has been on your shelf FOREVER?
Little House in the Big Woods. I remember getting this book for Christmas! I had the picture books of the Little House books, and I wanted a "big girl" Little House book, so I got this!
What's the most recently published book on your shelf?
Thick as Thieves, the first book in the Circle C Milestones series!
The oldest book on your shelf (as in, the actual copy is old)?
The Mystery of the Missing Heiress (1970). I got it off Ebay and it was FALLING apart. The spine fell off and I had to keep the whole thing together with the duct tape you can see on the cover.
 A book you won?

None, sadly. :P

A book you'd hate to let out of your sight (aka a book you'd never let someone borrow)?
Little Women. It's an amazing book, and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this edition, I wouldn't want anyone borrowing it and getting it ruined!
 Most beat up book?
This edition of Anne of Green Gables (don't worry, I have another really nice copy). It was my mom's book when she was a girl.

 Most pristine book?

None I can think of.

A book from your childhood?
The Boxcar Children. I adored this book when I was younger (and still do!).
A book that's not actually your book?

They're all mine! *MWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!*

A book with a special/different cover (e.g. leather bound, soft fuzzy cover etc.)?
This copy of The Secret Garden has a super soft, velvety cover.
A book that is your favorite color?
The blue border around the illustration on the cover of Ramona and Her Father is my favorite color.
Book that's been on your shelf the longest that you STILL haven't read?
Young Pioneers. I picked it up at a thrift store just because I noticed it was by Laura Ingalls Wilder's daughter, haven't touched it since! Maybe it's time I changed that! ;)
 Any signed books?
One, Thick as Thieves again! The author signed it.

Here are the nominees:

The Little Sis Blog
The Ups and Downs of My Not-So-Average Life
Just Joy
The Universe in a Blog
The Diary of Danielle
Rebekah's Remarks (or Simply Stories, whichever blog you want to do it on, Rebekah!)
If you want to do it, feel free, :)

Thanks for reading!

To Read August 2015

It's been a little while since I did a post in my "To Read" series, sorry about that! But, it's here now, so we'll start off with the books on my to-read list already and whether I read them or not. Green means I did read the book and red means I didn't.

Princess Academy
The Sign of the Beaver
Into the Wild
The Hobbit I found a super nice copy at the bookstore and it's really expensive, there is a cheaper copy but I prefer to own nicer copies for classics. So I guess I'll just have to get it at the library or save up lots of money!
LOTR Trilogy
Pat of Silver Bush

Alright, so I've been a little better but it still needs some work. I'm going to add on some books I will hopefully be getting around to reading this month:

Heartbreak Trail by Susan K. Marlow
It's the second book in the Circle C Milestones series - I REALLY need to read it! The third book isn't coming until next February, but time really does sneak up on you.
The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
Ever since I read Calico Captive and The Sign of the Beaver, I've been meaning to read this book! It looks really good.
Cherry Ames, Student Nurse by Helen Wells
Yes, I want to read this. I love vintage mystery books, and I've been DYING to read some more of them. (Nancy Drew is starting to bore me, and let's face it, Trixie Belden is starting to get more and more Nancy Drew-ish.)
Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer
I was looking at books on Goodreads and this caught my eye. It looks like a fun book!

Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin
This book sounds amazing, and it's something I've been meaning to read for awhile.

Well, that's it for this post! Thanks for reading, everyone!
