Hey guys!

First of all: OH MY GOODNESS! I am so excited...I have reached 50 followers! I am so elated right now; thank you everybody! :) I've been planning to have a giveaway for a long time now, but I decided to wait until I got 50 followers so the giveaway would actually have a purpose. :P Now I finally can - be on the lookout for that!

I have been racking my brain thinking of what I could try and post about. While I write a small short story for you all, it finally dawned on me I could post about one of my favorite hobbies (currently); collecting vintage patterns.

I love all things vintage/retro. Anything vintage, from my mom's 1963 cookbook to that wrapping paper from the 70's, I will drool over it for days. XD My favorite vintage thing that we have, though, is definitely vintage patterns!

I love looking at all of the different styles. These patterns above are from the 70's. (I actually really like the 70's. I learned a long time ago people, although it was in style, did NOT dress in tye-die, purple goggles and leather fringe all the time.)

Another really fun part of vintage patterns is that, more often then not, there is a fun little note or photograph inside. I have yet to find any photographs, but I have found several notes - like in this pattern from 1961 by McCall's.

It's kind of hard to read in this picture, but the note says:
Harpers B. Jan '61
linen plaid
blue shirt
button all way down front
And then it has the coolest little sketch at the bottom of the dress. :D

In this pants/capris/shorts pattern, there are a whole bunch of different measurements written down.
I have several other patterns with little slips of paper in them, and a few advertisements for different magazines too.

Today I got a new package of lots of different juniors patterns. (!!!) No adjusting to do if I want to make any of them!

Well, that's my new hobby. I really love it and it's a lot of fun! If anyone is interested in seeing a certain style or decade, just give me a holler! I have patterns from the 50's, 60's, 70's and there are two from the early 80's.

Thanks for reading! :)

  2. Congrats on fifty followers! That's awesome! I am so happy for you! And I love your patterns, I LOVE looking outfits and making them but I hate clothes shopping. ;) Doesn't make much sense, but whatever. ;)

Thanks so much for posting and CONGRATULATIONS! :D

    1. Thanks, Emily!

Yeah, clothes shopping isn't my favorite thing either...especially when I have to try stuff on. XD I prefer sewing.
